Name: Derek Souza
Canon: The Darkest Powers trilogy by Kelley Armstrong
Age: 16
Bio: Derek is a surly, sullen, looming werewolf who struggles between his love of logic and his wolf instincts and has very little empathy for anyone who isn't in his "pack." He is the result of a genetic experiment and was raised in a lab until he was five, when he was adopted by one of the members of the experiment. He's been on the run from them with his adoptive father and brother ever since.
Physically Derek is pretty conspicuous, over six feet tall and with the build of a muscular adult despite only being 16. He tends to dress in layers to try to hide this and make himself appear heavy, and he hunches in on himself a lot to try to appear shorter.
SYMBIOTE INFORMATION
RHO - INSTINCT MANIPULATION
Rank I
(+) Derek is able to heighten or negate his own instincts or the instincts of others. This includes things like dampening the protective instinct that hampers him during fights, negating his animal instincts that interfere with his logical ability to problem solve, or heightening his survival instincts. It also includes instincts in battle or instincts in relationships with people.
(-) In order to negate his own instincts, he must heighten the instincts of someone else. In order to negate someone else's instincts, he must heighten his own.
(-) He can only negate instincts or heighten instincts; he can't do both in the same person at the same time.
(-) He can only negate or heighten two instincts at a time.
(-) When he uses his ability he can choose what to negate or heighten in himself and others, but he can't choose what will be heightened or negated in return. For example, negating someone's instincts in a fight might heighten his own protective instinct, and heightening someone's instinct to trust might negate his survival instincts. Similarly, negating his animalistic instincts might heighten someone else's survival instincts.
(-) His ability only lasts for 15 minutes at a time.
(-) The side effects of his ability last for twice as long as he uses it.
(-) He can only use his ability once every few hours.

BROOD PERMISSIONS
Derek is not particularly concerned about keeping himself shielded from his brood. Frustration and irritation tend to be common, as well as anger and a deep protective streak. The faces of his father and brother and his love and loyalty to them, as well as flashes of a teenage girl with blonde or dyed black hair. His instincts are also very likely to bleed over, as is his intelligence and the fact that he loves learning. A deep loneliness and desire to belong.
NEST PERMISSIONS
Irritation is probably his most common emotion, and he's unlikely to hide that he doesn't care about any of you or any of this. Just leave him alone and let him be surly in peace okay.
MENTAL LINK
The biggest impression is wolf, the sense of fur and a flash of fangs. Likely annoyance and a sense of studied indifference, the scent of people who aren't a part of the Nest, a faint howling in the background.
PERMISSIONS
Physical Affection: Derek is unlikely to react well for someone he doesn't know, but anyone in his brood or "pack" will likely have to put up with a lot of Derek being in their personal space.
Physical Violence: probably unavoidable with Derek, so go ahead!
Romance/Relationships: ...good...luck....? but no more seriously I'm down if it happens!
Thread-jacking: Sure!
Back-tagging: Always!
Fourth-walling: No thank you
Offensive Subjects/Triggers: None really for me, but Derek himself comes with experimentation on children, casual disregard for his own life, and a lot of violence
Anything Else? not that I can think of!

[Derek's cranky at the moment, both because of whatever the hell is going on with this thing at night, and because he hadn't been planning on making a post this month. Now he has to start over.]
Did any of you let something out that you shouldn't have? Like maybe an Exustio, or whatever the hell other people call fire demons?
[Yeah, he's blaming the people who went on that stupid revolt thing.]
[Sealed to: Kevas, Liz, Alex, Sollux, Monroe, Zeke]
You getting hit with this crap too?
[Aka check in. Not that Derek's worried or anything.]
[Sealed to Merida]
You're not doing anything stupid, are you?

Does anyone know if Tahlia went on that idiotic revolt thing?
[It'll be the full moon soon, which means Derek'd looked for her. But she's no where to be found. He suspects she's just gone, but - he has to check.]
Private to Alex, Liz, Kevas, Sollux, Toph, Sarea, Monroe
Need anything?
[Which is pretty much Derek's way of asking for a check in.]

Not sure how many people celebrate it, but back home, today is Father's Day.
It's a day where people give presents or cards or whatever to their fathers, to show them that they appreciate them and care about them and stuff.
[And now Derek's feeling awkward. There wasn't really a reason for this explanation, other than than he's feeling sentimental. Awkward and sentimental. But one of the only good influences in his life have been his father figures, so.]
So, uh. Happy Father's Day to all the dads, I guess.
[He's also left a small basket outside of Kevas's door, with a plate of cheese biscuits and a carefully carved and polished wooden knife that's probably more decorative then practical, but it's the best he can do.]
