I always looked forward to being able to vote, after today. Guess it doesn't matter, here.
[There, he's posting in this thing. Checking in, even if he doesn't really feel like it.]
[Sealed to Alex and Tahlia]
The full moon's next week. Do either of you want some company for it?

Yeah. On my world, most government officials are elected, and people vote for them. But you can't vote until you're eighteen.
no subject
*Human government is weird.*
So I guess you just turned 18...years? old.

Oh, your guardian, right?
We don't have an age we seperate from ours, I guess it depends on the troll and lusus.
no subject
[Pause.]
Lusus?
no subject
I guess a lusus is like a parent for trolls.
no subject
[Huh.]
Are the people who take care of you different from your biological parents?
no subject
*At least not in the sense humans know it.*
no subject
[All right, that's interesting. And now Derek kind of wants to ask how that works, but that's prying a little too much.]
All the parent talk must be weird then.

Uh.
[Don't quote biology textbook, don't quote biology textbook.]
In the case of biological parents, it's the people that created the kid. Humans reproduce sexually, which is a process where humans create descendants that have a combination of genetic material contributed from two different members of the species. So we get half our DNA from a female human, and half from a male. It's kind of a complicated process, but then usually they'll raise the kid together, and they're called parents.
no subject
Uh.
Yeah.
I know how wigglers are made. Or...babies, or whatever word you use. Its just we don't know who's, um, material combined to make us and probably never meet them.
*Unless Karkat and the ectobiology stuff counted. But thinking of Karkat as a parent...does not seem right in any way.
Wait.*
You need a female AND a male?
no subject
Oh. Yeah, we usually know, and that's usually who raises us.
[Then he pauses.]
Uh. Yeah.
no subject
Huh. Alright then.
